Cook County's Overburdening Taxes
In March Cook County Board President Todd Stroger and his fellow Democrats passed a 1% sales tax increase, making Cook County the highest taxed region in the nation with taxes as high as 10.25% in some areas.
Palatine officials, struggling to cope with their 10% sales tax, have begun talk of seceding from Cook County. The concern is that a large amount of business will be lost as Lake County's tax just across the border is a much lower 7%.
At a recent meeting Steve applauded Palatine officials for their leadership on this issue. (see here) As a champion for lower taxes Steve stands proudly with Palatine as they attempt to gain a voice in Cook County politics. The tax hike shows a complete lack of respect for the hard-working people of the community.
Join Steve as he fights against the overburdening taxes of Cook County. Together we can fight for a responsible government that respects your tax dollars.
