Lower Taxes And Eliminate "Pork"
In order to strengthen our economy Congress must make the tax cuts permanent and take steps to lower them even further. We must eliminate wasteful "Pork Barrel" government spending and reduce the size of the federal bureaucracy. Only then will we be able to balance the budget and keep from passing massive debt on to our children. The federal government spends too much of our hard-earned tax dollars and taxes us unfairly to pay for Congress’ extravagant spending. Individuals and families should be able to choose how they spend their own money, not government bureaucrats in Washington.

Drastically Decrease Our Dependence on Foreign Oil And Develop Alternative Fuels
We must remove the stranglehold foreign dictators have over our energy supply. In Congress I will work to drastically decrease America’s dependence on foreign oil by strongly advocating for an increase in nuclear power plants and development of domestic oil and natural gas reserves. In addition we must increase the production capacity of American refineries and encourage research into environmentally-friendly alternative fuels. I strongly oppose drilling in Lake Michigan.

Affordable, Accessible And Portable Health Care
America has the finest health care system in the world, but it could be even better. To make health care in America affordable, accessible and portable, we must: 1) harness the power of the private sector and free markets to dramatically lower healthcare costs through competition, 2) eliminate abusive and frivolous lawsuits that increase health care costs and put doctors out of business, and 3) stop health insurance companies from denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions or other discriminatory practices. I reject Democrats’ plans to impose socialized medicine, which would create a costly and inefficient federal bureaucracy that will drastically increase costs and decrease the quality and availability of health care services.

Ensure A Secure Retirement for All Americans
American seniors deserve a secure retirement. I will work to ensure that all generations of Americans have a safe and prosperous retirement by preserving America’s Social Security system. I oppose privatizing Social Security, raising the retirement age or lowering benefits. The government must deliver on its promises. I support increasing the amount that workers, non-working spouses, and families can contribute tax-free to IRAs and 401(k) retirement programs to help families help themselves.

Protect America And Remain a Beacon of Liberty Around the World
We must ensure the safety of America by strengthening our military and providing them the tools they need to be successful and return home safely. We must also provide them with everything they need to reintegrate themselves into civilian life. We must also continue to be a light in the world, assisting freedom fighters around the globe as they struggle for the same liberties we enjoy in America. We must oppose state sponsors of terror and stabilize the Middle East by demanding that Iraqis do more for themselves.

End Illegal Immigration – Promote Legal Immigration
The debate over illegal immigration is about the law, not the people. We must enforce the laws that exist, but also remember that legal immigration is necessary for the prosperity of our nation. To protect our communities we must immediately secure our borders by completing the Mexican border fence and increasing the number of border patrol officers. We must also provide businesses with immediate access to perspective employee's citizenship status to keep them from being punished for breaking laws with which they were unable to comply.

Mandatory Sentences For Crimes Against Children And Seniors, And Crimes Committed With A Firearm
I support mandatory, extensive prison time for criminals who prey on our most vulnerable citizens – children and seniors. I will also fight for stiff mandatory sentences for any criminal who uses a firearm during the commission of a crime, a step that will lower the number of violent crimes in America and make us safer.

Improve our Infrastructure and Promote Recreational Green And Open Space
I will work to improve our quality of life here at home by fighting for long-awaited improvements to our state's infrastructure and by encouraging smart growth to decrease the negative effects of suburban sprawl and traffic congestion. We must “think before we build” to avoid increasing the congestion on our already clogged roads and minimize damage to local eco-systems.

Ensure A Quality Education For All Our Children
A quality education is so important for all our children. In order to make American education the best it can be the federal government must cooperate with the states to ensure full funding for quality educational programs. We must reform ‘No Child Left Behind’ and give parents the option to choose the school that best fits their child’s needs. To facilitate school choice, school vouchers should be available for families who decide to send their children to private schools or to public schools outside their school district, increasing the funds available for high quality public and private schools. This model of school choice would facilitate competition in our schools which would spark innovation in our educational system.
